Last night Blakely Lively; as Serena Van Der Woodsen in Gossip Girl, carried the Mulberry Oversized Taylor in Bright Cabbage green all episode. Having originally been a little dubious about the bright cabbage green on such a large bag I was completely glued to the screen. Previously seen on Fearne Cotton in grim London, the Calofornian sunshine certainly helped me warm to this beautiful bag! The Oversized Taylor is also available in black, deer brown, mole grey and red onion.

It may seem a little premature but the ‘booking holiday’ race has well and truly begun. A substantial amount of your fellow employees are probably day dreaming at their desks right now! But have they thought what bathers they’ll be wearing whilst their sipping on that ice cold beer / sangria / mojito... No.

It dawns on me every year, right at the last minute, that I should have gone bikini shopping before I start pre-empting what not to wear before holiday: We all do it - Purposely don't wear particular clothes so they won't need to be washed again before being packed. This is usually about 1-2 weeks prior to holiday for me.

Now I don't know whether it is because I'm more excited than usual for our annual Laundry Room "staff training" week in Ibiza, but I have started to investigate the bikini options very early this year. And quite honestly, I don't know why I haven't before: Swimwear, it's part of the spring summer season collections, which I have been happily buying since, well, late January; I'm disappointed every year when I finally find a bikini I like, but they only have the top in my size; and lets face it, no one is serious about a bikini body diet until you see your wintery white self in a bikini buying changing room! Urgh!

So, I've put together a selection of the nicest bathers I could find (for winter. Spring begins in a week or so!). Take a look, they wont be lounging around for long >>

I had a quick look throught my wardrobe yesterday, with summer in mind. Everything looked a little bland, lots of washed t-shirts, denim shirts and plain knits. 10 years ago there was nothing but 55 DSL printed tees, chunky Marhsall Artist graphic sweats and even multi coloured converse.
I think its so important that your clothes say something, in this case literally. For Spring/Summer 2011 I'm thinking clever 'slogan tees' and lightweight sweats which say something.

I've been searching for a pair of proper velvet slippers for a while now. Then, just last night I stumbled across these bad boys!

With Christmas just around the corner I don't know why but I still feel like I have to justify spending money on myself. So the only way to crush the feelings of guilt was to stick to wardrobe staples. I desperately needed some new pumps and some skinny black jeans, my last few pairs of jeans have all been Acne, so I thought that it was about time for a change.

After a marathon changing room session I finally decided on a pair of 'Grim Tim Broken Black' Nudie Jeans from Dogfish, I've had them for 3 days now and I haven't taken them off.

With the crazy unpredictable weather over the past week, suddenly our winter wool coats don't quite seem utilitarian enough for stormy downpours. Although they don't come in our favourite shade of 'camel', I'm after a classic waxed Barbour jacket. Veering away from the Alexa Chung lookalike style, I'm taking inspiration from suited city boys stylishly donning the quilted Chelsea Jacket, and also looking to New Yorker, Olivia Palermo for belting the men's Bedale (in pristine condition) instead of opting for the stuffy women's International. To keep the style looking 'fresh', keep it clean and sharp to avoid farmer connotations.

The BF is a big fan of Ben Affleck's first directed film, Gone Baby Gone. So last night we went to watch his second; The Town.

I was intrigued to see Blake Lively in another role other than Serena Van Der Woodsen, (I think the BF may have also been intrigued to see Blake Lively too!) She was pleasantly surprisingly good; she seemed to play the character with ease and in my mere mortal opinion, I don't think it could have been played better. In fact all the actors played their roles to reality perfection. Jon Hamm (of Mad Men fame) was another favourite, as was Brit actress Rebecca Hall. The plot was clever: not too predictable and didn't twist and turn too much to be unbelievable. Applause Ben Affleck; who seems to be successfully leaving his "Bennifer" days way behind him, progressing as a serious director and actor.

The two films he has directed have given their audiences an insightful view of Boston Massachusetts; which has now formulated it's own sub-genre in crime films.

The Town's final credits track was Jolene by Ray LaMontagne, a classic.

School Shoes

So, now that it's getting colder, the sandals all reluctantly being put back in their boxes and peep toes and ballet shoes have suddenly become risky, re: flash rain showers. Winter boots seem a little dramatic for now; especially with impromptu sunny spells. Celebs may be rocking the new A/W trends sat on the front row at fashion week, but honestly, in our "normal" lives, shearling heeled boots seem just a bit too enthusiastic for the change of season, when all we really need is a "school shoe". (And of course, an "Indian Summer"! Ha!).

School shoes; endearingly recalled as a name given by our mothers to "sensible shoes". They may sound ugly, but as grown ups; with slightly different agendas to school girls, they're quite an attractive option. Fashion's Night Out - Shopping on steroids

Last night, we took a hop, skip and a jump on to the train, into the big smoke, for Fashion's Night Out. An event pumped with tempting little treats on every corner; competitions, discounts, goodie bags - shopping was on steroids!

First stop: Selfridges. Voted London's Best Department Store, it did not disappoint. There were parties in their new Mulberry shop, up in the Wonder Room, silent discos on menswear, make-overs in cosmetics, the odd celeb on the decks and plenty of design student sorts lapping up the whole experience. Good fun all round. The new Shoe Galleries were a favourite; a moody dark space with atmospheric lighting displayed the amazing range of shoes in all their glory. Another favourite were the Celine box bags (divine) and the sweet sales assistant who humoured me, as I obviously can't afford one... yet!

Second stop was over to South Molton Street to Browns and Browns Focus. Their concept store of school inspired pieces achieved A*s from the LR office and our appreciation for the brand of the season, Carven, simply increased. Carven camel coats all round please!
Third stop: the Whistles flagship store in St Christoper's place. They held a preview evening for the Roksanda Ilincic for Whistles AW10 collection. With true 'fashion' thought, part of the store was transformed into an all white Margiela-esque salon, to exhibit a catwalk show of the 10 piece collection. Wearing a Whistles silk blouse, harem trousers and Camilla Skovgarrd sandals, Jane Shepherdson was the epitome of understated cool. Her army of immaculate Whistles girls; with their impeccable manners and unbeatable customer service, circulated the store ensuring all customers were taken care of. We felt special!

Forth Stop was unfortunately Liverpool Street Station. Our Cinderella night was over. Our glass slippered feet were aching, as we boarded the cattle train back the sticks.

The LR office enjoyed thei night thoroughly, and as (our latest designer crush) Rupert Sanderson said, 'it punctuates the new season [and acts as] a precursor for everything else to come'. Bring on Fashion Week!

My Little Pony (Top!)

Earlier this week, Whistles uploaded this little beauty onto their site; the Galloping Horse Print Top. It is far too pretty to be ignored and completely holted any ability of working to carry on until it was purchased. Then 'what to wear with it' was discussed in the LR office, either Whistles' trusty harem trousers, high waisted skinny jeans or these wonderfully comfortable 'Ten Black Dawn' Jeans? All a la Equestrian accessories such as; heeled jodhpurs boots and a lucky horse shoe necklace. Tally-Ho!

I was on the hunt for a new album for our annual 'staff training' week in Ibiza, something which would be suitable for the lazy pool-side days, and also something which would pick us up for our pre 'Space on Sunday' drinking games!

The XX's new self titled album couldn't have been more suitable; the husky aching love songs allow your mind or your feet to wonder to places they have never been before. The Album is produced by Jamie Smith, all the praise must go to him and the other band members. They have created something which is beautiful, calm, innovative and a little haunting.

The XX have definitely pushed themselves into the spotlight, gaining praise from some of the A-list celebs in the music world, who have squabbled for the front row at their gigs. They have also been picked up by fashion's darling, Alexander Wang, who used a track for his new seasons video campaign.

Bicester bound!

A couple of weeks ago, the LR team took a trip to Bicester Village. After hearing glowing reports from our fashion savy friends and seeing the countless treasures they had brought back, we set sail, bound for Bicester!

After a sticky journey in a small car, passing through the sunny Cotswold's, we arrived at the "shopping mecca". Free parking = tick.

The village itself is a pretty little place, with a main avenue of timber-clad shops. Each shop is an individual brand, with their own in-house staff. Most of the staff were friendly, not pushy and without the 'I work at Gucci so I'm better than you' attitude. A delight = Tick.

As we went mid-week, the shopping environment was relaxed, and much more pleasurable than fighting your way through Oxford Circus. The Bicester Village website boasts a profile of over 130 brands and aims to "give in-the-know customers the chance to buy previous seasons' collections direct from the worlds leading fashion brands at affordable prices". A fairly accurate description; I understand Bicester Village wants to retain a certain exclusivity for the brands but as a whole, it allows these "leading fashion brands" to be more accessible and less formidable to us mere mortals. Fear not, it isn't Chav Central - no way near! It's just a good place to go if you don't have a hedge funders wage packet.

After a very exciting day out of LR HQ, we arrived back beaming with enthusiasm for Bicester. Some of us showed restraint, some of us didn't. Amongst the bargains were: a pair of Dior Homme mini swim shorts; an oversized Joseph jumper; a sleeveless blazer from Reiss; a Luella -you'll never find a bag bigger- 'whopper shopper'; and the top prize goes to the Burberry Prorsum dip dyed mac, size 10, reduced from £1195 to £250. Boom!

I have become obsessed with finding the ultimate boyfriend short. It seems everyone else can find a pair and pull off the effectless indie chic look, apart from me. However, the Acne Generic Girl Shorts seem to tick the appropriate boxes. The stone washed wash has a fraction of eighties appeal. They're baggy enough around the leg to avoid 'back of the thigh horror' and slim enough around the waist to retain a womanly curve. However daunting the denim short shorts trend may be, I'm going to have to brave it at some point in a pair of these bad boys!

Models are a race of their own. Their fawn like limbs can seem clumsy and almost apologetic in the flesh, but take a picture and they are freeze framed as these confident elegant warriors; whether its storming down a catwalk or floating down a side steet. They can be found in a number of habitats, but most migrate to city colonies in either New York, Paris, Milan or London. They are instantly recognisablle during their peak seasons, commonly known as 'Fashion Weeks', but are alittle harder to find inbetween these times. A model off duty is undeniably cool, and once spotted; they are hard to ignore. Their signature look is a tall, skinny, understated, and wearing a slightly dishevelled, perfectly oversized t-shirt.

Their unnatural stats to the average mortal are impossible to equal, but we can always slip on one of these tees and try!

Every year, team Laundry Room escape to Space- in Ibiza for a good old boogie on the terraces. Weeks prior to this, the outfit choice becomes the topic of conversation in the Laundry Room HQ. In the past we've donned APC shorts and trilby's, retro Adidas runners with Folk shirts, Humanoid dresses and Sam Edelman wedges. And obviously, the legendary Laundry Room plimsoles always make an appearance. So the search has begun for the 2010 Space outfits. Stay tuned!!

The guys from Woodbridge, The Cheek (formally Cheeky Cheeky and the Nosebleeds) release their forth single, 'Just One Night'. If you haven't already bought the single then go download it from iTunes!

They just played at Glastonbury on Thursday, and I hear they got some great reviews on they're performance. The new single along with 'Hung Up' (their third single) are great, well worth a listen.

Also heard a rumour that Rory (vocals) is in the new Burberry 2010 ad campaign, shot by Mario Testino, along with Sam Rollinson, Charlotte Wiggins, Caspar Smyth, Gwilym Gold, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Samuel Fry.

This spring, talented designer Ally Capellno is celebrating 30 years in business. Hosted at the Wapping Project, an exhibition has been put together to showcase 'the world of Ally Capellino from 1980 up until today'. Take a trip down there one weekend; the exhibition is inspiring, the canteen serves Delicious food and the actual venue is an incredible space. We like it.
